Haylie Week 7

Chapter 6 focuses on network writing, "Network writing is electronic literature created for and published on the Internet" (Rettberg 152). Essentially, this form of writing requires different platforms and creates a whole story. One important aspect that is mentioned in the chapter is collaboration. Collaboration is a big part of this form of writing because it uses the internet to have users go to different pages and interact with the work. It also affects the performance of the piece. Rettberg also brings up the fact that a network can be a platform for literature and also material for a piece of literature. This is interesting to me because it shows how vast the internet actually is.

I looked into "To Be or Not Be Mouchette" by Martin Naddam. At first I was a little confused on what I was supposed to click on. I found out that there are actually a lot of things to click on. The starting page has flowers on it and is a little plain. But, when you click on the clickable areas, they bring you to another site that talks about suicide. Some of the pages that I was sent to were very dark and I was shocked when reading them. I don't think I ended up seeing everything to be clicked on because there were so many things to see.

  1. To Be or Not Be Mouchette seems pretty interesting! Maybe I'll check it out.
