Haylie's Week 4 Post

"A Manifesto for Cyborgs: Science, Technology, and Socialist Feminism in the 1980s" by Donna Haraway is a feminist essay that focuses on the challenges between feminism, technology, identity, and machines. Haraway depicts the differences between these topics by using the metaphor of a cyborg that is half human and half machine. Using this metaphor, she emphasizes the boundaries of humans and technology. I thought this text was an interesting read. I could see the connections of this text to hypertext because of the fact that hypertext is text and also digital literature and Haraway presents this when using the cyborg example that is half human and half machine. In a way, this is just like hypertext because it uses aspects from the writer's mind and the digital attribute's "mind".

I chose to look at Shelley Jackson's work, "My Body a Wunderkammer". I was intrigued by her work when we looked at her Instagram of the snow and also the tattoos. I really like this piece because of the interactiveness and also how personal it is. When you click on the different body parts, she writes it about herself. I like how this gives the reader an insight to her mind while the piece focuses on her body.
