Bella week 4
After looking into "A Cyborg Manifesto" by Donna Haraway, I appreciate her criticisms of traditional feminism, while challenging social ideals like the patriarchy. This immediately reminded me of movies with artificial intelligence in which femininity is displayed as sexualized and robotic. I appreciate how she included multiple perspectives, including binary thought and without. I also took note of the opinions she had regarding identity, which I feel is extremely relevant in recent years, since the way we define identity has shifted completely. the idea of cyborgs, while seemingly far fetched, is one that is extremely relevant. this day and age we see the rise of AI, in all fields, not at the same level at the same time, but still being developed. Although this text was a bit tedious and difficulty
I also looked into "My Body a Wunderkammer" by Shelley Jackson. This was a personal journey through interpretations of body image ideals, and a vulnerable narrative that painted a beautiful picture. This felt like stepping into someones diary, and reading something they did not want anyone to see. The rawness and vulnerability of the text itself lends itself well to the format, being able to navigate it at my own will contrasted interestingly. I really like the illustrations on the page, and the diversity of the sections. I like how they vary in intimacy and intensity, you can navigate it at your own will, on your own time. I have never seen an example of hypertext literature quite like this, with this many words and this clear of a narrative. I appreciate the focus on bodily autonomy and perceiving your own body, it is an extremely relevant topic in this day and age, especially for young women.

Bella, I really like your connection to films portrayal of women in artificial intelligence. I feel like a lot of the time AI or robots are women, which is interesting. The work by Shelley Jackson was a personal journey for me as well. I really appreciated the vulnerability that was shown even through the screen. I think the hypertext aspect of it all - allowing you go navigate through at your own pace - is very sensitive to the way other people may interpret or feel as going through it.
